Mountain Blue Bird – Mormon Row, Grand Teton, WY
12×16 oil on canvas $750
This little guy and his friends enamored me. As a group of us were stomping through the historic site of Mormon Row in the Grand Teton National Park, these bright blue Mountain Bluebirds would not be ignored. Way back when, living here was hard work. Homesteaders from Idaho established 27 homes and farmed the fertile soil by the Grog Ventre River near Jackson Hole at the early 1890’s. They built ditches to irrigate their crops, and a post office, and endured harsh winters. The Blue birds, well they have always had what they needed, and never worry about what to eat. Perhaps that is why they are so happy – no worries. I loved the contrast of the bright blue feathers against the weathered wood.
