Something Blue, Macdougal’s Bluebell, Hardscrabble Road, AZ
20×16 Oil on Canvas
$1600
I thought I had seen it all. Clearly, I had not. Where have these lovely bluebells been all my Arizona life? Turns out they were down a dirt road. And when I say dirt road, that makes it sound fancy. Just outside of Pine, Arizona is a little road called Hardscrabble Road. Aptly named, because in some places you are better off just getting out of the jeep and walking alongside; that takes less labor. But slow going makes more time to really look around, and that can yield new discoveries. On this day, the Indian paintbrush were screaming for attention (and I was listening) but then, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted something blue. It was my first time seeing these little beauties, and I’m hoping it won’t be my last.
