If the desert is a beautiful woman, then the blooms of the desert are her jewelry. Wandering through the Superstition Mountains in the springtime could rival a trek to the Tucson gem and mineral show. But you should do both. Arizona’s cholla cactus produce such a captivating variety of jewel-tone blooms. For this series, I paired a variety of blooms with iconic Arizona turquoise; more specifically, the color of my grandmother Walker’s turquoise ring. A girl can’t have too many jewels.
